First EuroMENA early-stage innovation conference on September 22 at ESA in Clemenceau, Beirut. LAUNCH Summit 2016 was as a roadmap for startups and entrepreneurs to take their idea and launch it. Around +1000 attended, along with experts and mentors who lead the discussions and workshops addressing the core challenges as well as the opportunities facing Lebanon and the MENA region.
OuiShare Fest is a 3-day event about collaborative economies, emerging communities, and digital transformations. In its 4th year, the event will gather 1500 entrepreneurs and social innovators, non-profit and business leaders, grassroots activists and public officials who are at the forefront of developments such as civic tech, sharing & on-demand economy, open source, makers and distributed production, crowdfunding & peer-to-peer finance and horizontal governance.
Many today wonder whether the collaborative/sharing economy makes sense for the developing countries and what drive people to be part of those movements and share when they only have few? The answer is the, The need! collaborative and sharing are not options; it’s a fundamental thing for people to maximize the resources and creating greater opportunities that start from bottom and it grows from there.
In our region people share a household with the big family, houseware and electricity generators with neighbors, a taxi with strangers, and much more, to reduce the cost of things that otherwise they won’t be able to afford.
It’s a Need Economy
The Startup Europe Summit (SES) is Europe’s foremost technology meets policy conference, that brings together startups, mature technology companies, policy makers, venture capital and the established industry, to discuss the challenges and successes of technology and policy in Europe.
Refugees are too often seen only as problems, but refugees entrepreneurs proved they’re opportunities to contribute and empower to both the economy and culture. They are trying to solve problems like access to the right information to avoid bureaucracy, learning the language, find a job, connecting refugees, and more.
Dealing with the refugee crisis is a huge challenge, and it should involve people from both sides to down together to resolve this and create greater opportunities. Berlin becomes an example for the world of breaking down walls between people and build an inclusive community.

The Sharing and Collaborative Economy ideas are not new in the Arab World. Throughout history, people practiced sharing and collaboration in their day-to-day lifestyle as part of culture and religious beliefs. Even though when nowadays people have less still keep sharing. People don’t call it sharing they call it life.
